St. Joseph Museums announce First Day Trip

The Saint Joseph Museums have announced their first day trip of the year.
Public Relations Officer for Saint Joseph Museums Kathy Reno says the trip will begin with an exhibit in Kansas City on Queen Nefertari of Egypt.

"We'll start with the story of the Egyptian Queen Nefertari, which is at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.  She was called the One For Whom the Sun Shines.  And for that exhibition, they have brought everything together that had to do with her tomb and her life, and the people that were the tomb builders and the artisans of the day.  And hers was the most magnificent of the Royal Palace's tombs that they found in the Valley of the Queens.  Hers was the most elaborate."

Reno says the trip will then head to a lunch at the Genghis Khan Mongolian Grill in Midtown, which will lead to the newest exhibit in Union Station on Genghis Khan.

"So they will see everything - the gold jewelry, the ornaments, the silk robes, the musical instruments, pottery, sophisticated weaponry (no surprise).  But they'll also see some of the accomplishments he had.  His attitude towards religion, his way of bringing everyone together under one empire that had been just feuding groups.  He was a brilliant military strategist obviously and he was known to be ruthless.  But he was also known for the fierce loyalty of his people."

The tour leaves the Saint Joseph Museum at 8:30 a.m. and returns by 5 p.m. January 9th, 2020.

Paid reservations are required.  To make a reservation to join the trip, sign up online at https://bit.ly/2NJOKXC  call 816-232-8471, or email kathy@stjosephmuseum.org.
